# Mcp integration

# EvalGate agent tool access

> EvalGate provides a Tool API that is not a standards-conformant MCP server.

The existing `/api/mcp/tools` and `/api/mcp/call` routes are an authenticated,
**HTTP Tool API (legacy/internal)** for direct integrations. Do not add them to Cursor,
Claude Desktop, or another MCP client configuration.

Use `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY` to discover and call the read-only
`eval.quality.latest`, `eval.get`, and `eval.list` tools. Write operations are disabled by default. Operator opt-in with
`EVALGATE_TOOL_API_WRITES=true` and Required write scopes enables the internal
mutation tools; keep the flag disabled for read-only integrations. The tier is
limited to 100,000 requests per day.

A future MCP integration will be documented only after its transport,
authorization, approval, and compatibility contracts are available.
